Intellect Systems has been appointed by Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue) to assist with the electrical and control systems for stage one of the North Star Project, located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
The iron ore deposit at North Star will be developed in two stages, with stage one being the construction of a small scale pilot plant designed to utilise new technology to deliver 66% magnetite hematite ore at a low operating cost. Power distribution and motor control facilities are required to support stage one of the project. Intellect are engaged to supply and manufacture switchroom PLC and communications panels to the required specifications, along with supporting engineering and maintenance documentation.

The North Star project is located approximately 120 km south of Port Hedland, and 25 km from Fortescue’s dual track heavy haul railway.
