Overview

The Iron Bridge site is in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 145km south of Port Hedland, and encompasses the North Star, Eastern Limb, Glacier Valley and West Star magnetite iron ore deposits.

Iron Bridge includes the construction of a process plant, non-process infrastructure, slurry and return water pipelines, a raw water pipeline and port infrastructure to support the production of 22 wmtpa of high-grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product.

Scope

Fortescue engaged Intellect Systems to provide Electrical and Instrumentation technicians to support commissioning operations at Iron Bridge and to:

  • Perform construction verification
  • Support Site Acceptance Testing activities
  • Perform stage 1 and 2 Commissioning
  • Validate communications installation and field wiring
  • Communications cable termination, testing, labelling and patching
  • As build (Redline) changes to drawings
  • Support the transition from commissioning to operations
  • CCTV cameras setup and configuration
  • Operational support activities and fault finding

Smarter Solutions

The Intellect Systems Site Services team brought our expertise in implementing industrial operational technology solutions in the mining and materials handing sector to the Iron Bridge Project.

Intellect Systems mobilised a team of E&I commissioning experts and technicians to the site where they were responsible for carrying out the commissioning planning, documentation and performing duties such as power up and point to point testing, fault-finding, and operational ramp up and support.

The E&I commissioning technicians performed precise calibration and fault diagnosis on a variety of instruments and systems, including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic components. They also managed and executed allocated project tasks, conducted system walk-downs and captured punch list items from construction to commissioning.

Our in-house commissioning experts understand that a poorly implemented design can lead to inefficiencies and downtime. We ensure that knowledge from the design phase is effectively translated into commissioning, documenting every step of the process and handling all aspects of the project with utmost precision. This approach bridges the gap between the design and operational phases and helps safeguard the project’s success.

Intellect Systems’ commitment to quality and attention to detail is evident in our systematic processes and technical expertise. The successful commissioning of the Iron Bridge Project is a testament to Intellect Systems’ capability to navigate the challenges of implementing bespoke operational technology solutions.
